St. Xavier's University students continue their
committed service to the neighbourhood children.
Every weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) a group of
enthusiastic students from the University visit the
local villages - Kathalberia and Kulberia, under
Beonta Panchayat of Bhangar II Block (South 24
Parganas District) and teach the young children of
various governments run primary schools, to impart
quality education to them. Another group of our
students have been carrying out a noble drive by
running Spoken English Classes at the University
Campus for the older students especially those who
attend secondary schools/colleges. These students
generally come from Dharmatala-Panchuria
Village.Both these activities are being fully
managed by the students themselves and the overall
impact appears to be highly positive, a fruitful
experience for both university students as well as
village children. It has brought a new ray of hope
among the village people, school teachers and

St. Xavier's University, Kolkata celebrated its third
Foundation Day on February 8, 2019. Hon'ble
Governor of West Bengal, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi
was the Chief Guest and Prof. Parth Pratim
Chakrabarti, Director of IIT Karagpur, the Guest of
The Central Library Building named after Fr. Pedro
Arrupe, a former General of the Jesuit Order, was
inaugurated by the Governor. The Arrupe Building
houses the spacious central lending library and a
reading room. It will have law and Management
libraries respectively. A state of the art studio
for the Mass Communication department is set up in
the first and second floors of the building.
Annual Sports Day 2019

St. Xavier's University's first Annual Sports Day
was celebrated on Saturday, February 2 with total
participation and great enthusiasm. The Chief Guest
for the occasion was Shri Sujit Bose, the Hon'ble
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Government
of West Bengal.
The Class-wise Parade by students was colourful and
thematic. The playground was overflowing with team
spirit, zeal and excitement. The presence and the

well-wishers, took out a walkathon on February 2
morning for One India on the occasion of their
annual Sports Day. There were around 1000
walkathoners with banners and placards. Hon'ble
Mayor of Bidhannagar, Shri Sabyasachi Dutta flagged
off the walkathon in the presence of Hon'ble

1) What is your feeling after your dream of
SXUK is realized?
Its not my dream alone, it is the dream of the
whole Xaverian Family, it includes the Jesuits,
alumni, alumnae, the people of Kolkata, the
Government, including the Honorable Chief
Minister and many more.
It is a collective dream, I was there to give a
lead; yes the dream has been realized, it has
become a reality but the vision 2020 must now
take a different shape as vision 2025, because
this vision must continue.

Inauguration of new Football field

The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor blessed and
inaugurated the new Football field on January 9
at 3.30 pm in the presence of all staff members
and students. A friendly match was played
between two teams of seniors and juniors

X-Inovaè, 2018 is St. Xavier's University's
first ever fest under the banner of Xavier's
Commerce and Management Society. A range of
events was organised to test the business
management skills of the participants. We had a
spectacular two day buzz of enthusiastic
participants on the 14th and 15th of November,
2018. It was filled with ideas, innovation,
creativity, fun and enthusiasm contributed by
the best minds from all across the city.
